GWM P Series Problems: Common Issues and Solutions

ALEX HARPER

Great Wall Motors, also known as GWM Poer and GWM Ute, started making the P-series pickup truck in 2019, which is also known as the P-series pickup trucks. In addition to being a tough truck, this pickup offers comfort to its passengers.

Compared to any other vehicle in this price range, I would consider Ute/P-series to be the best. Although most car brands have problems, the P series has its fair share. You may experience the following problems:

GWM P series Problems

Problems with the GWM P Series

Malfunctions with keyless entry

The keyless entry on some P series cars starts malfunctioning after a while. There’s no key recognition, so the doors won’t open.

It’s not uncommon for this to happen, and restarting the car is the only solution. The next step is to manually unlock and lock the door again if this does not work.

Weaker Aircon Air Flow

Open the windows on the GWM P-series’s driver’s side if you’re going to deal with hot weather during your trip.

Use of windscreen glass on average

A major issue with all GWM vehicles consists of the windshield glass not being up to the manufacturer’s standards, which is evident during the manufacturing process. This is an issue that persists across all models of GWM vehicles.

You will find that your double cab’s windshields will crack and chip over time as a result.

Fuel Economy not that great

We expect the car to provide good fuel economy, but it doesn’t quite deliver. Many other owners have complained about this issue as well, and I have heard from many of them as well.

Those features are expected of a 4×4, but they aren’t present in this vehicle.

In terms of fuel economy, this car isn’t that great, even though it has a powerful engine.

Based on our research, most owners get a fuel economy of 10-12L/100km and they claim that GWM’s fuel economy averages 9.4L/100km.

Aftermarket Parts Support

There are fewer aftermarket options for P series vehicles than for other models, which is one of the biggest disadvantages.

In the event of a problem with your vehicle, since the parts are made specifically for this model, you may not be able to get them easily, and you may need to visit your dealer.

Heavy Load Towing in Hot Weather

Owners have reported that they have to stop and let the vehicle cool down after towing heavy loads on hot days, and they must allow the engine to cool down before continuing.

Reliability of the GWM P Series

Reliability of the GWM P Series

I researched the P series Bakkie in depth, conducted surveys, checked out what other owners had to say and used my expertise as a mechanic to make my decision.

I am about to list the few issues I’ve recorded with the P series, but it has been surprisingly reliable. Owners haven’t had any major problems and haven’t reached 100 000 kilometers (62 137 miles) yet.

With a turbodiesel 2.0L producing 160 hp and 400 Nm of torque and an 8-speed ZF transmission, this vehicle has the engine and gearbox that are as solid as it gets.

Conclusion

P series cabs are some of the best value on the market for the price, with several standard features, and an even greater number of features when you upgrade.

Despite its solid reputation, the P series has a few downsides, such as a lack of power, which may be a problem when hauling heavy loads during hot weather.

A five-star safety rating is given to the vehicle and the power is decent. In spite of the issues mentioned above, this product has shown to be reliable so far.
